Another surfboard painting for the Aloha Surf School. Funny thing is when i was looking for a soundtrack for the video I got a nasty, and unsolicited, email from an "art expert" telling me how cheap my work looks and how I get all my values wrong, that it's not how I should paint things, how flawed my technique is ... etc. So this song felt just appropriate :)

On a different note, a lot of people are asking me about how much i charge for a board. Surfboard painting start at €130 for a board up to 6ft or bellow.

There's then an additional €2 per additional inch in length, here's a rough guide per foot:

* 6ft or bellow : €130
* 7ft : €154
* 8ft : €178
* 9ft : €202
* 10ft : €224

I started making these again. I had forgoten how much fun they are to make and how funny it is to see the painting being done again.

I've been doing a lot of surf related art lately, so here's a small video of my non surf stuff just to remind the trad scene I haven't forgotten about them and will be doing more "trad art" soon ;)
I used a small track I played and recorded with my friend Ciara Brennan a few years back.

I don't paint sheep often these days, so it feels like a real treat when I do. This came as a commission from France and funny enough the last one I did was about the same time last year... from France too.

Youtube rejected the first song (Littlest birds from the be good tanyas) . think this one from Lunasa ended up working just as good.

Oh and yes, I'm wearing a bathrobe in the first few mins ... when you gotta paint, you gotta paint !! :)

This is an old board i had. A small single fin fish (oh yeah). Top coated so it can be waxed and surfed. she's already been back in the water since.

I'm really having fun making these at the moment. plenty more coming soon

Time lapse video of me painting over an old first draft I didn't like. Not sure what I was going for at the time but it evolved by itself into an some sort of volcanic Island. funny.

I'm having great fun putting these together so why stop, right ?

I got roped into this by complete accident at the lorient festival. From what I remember I got a text late at night (round 2/3am) while playing at a session at the Pub Glen in Lorient, saying that Theresa Kavanagh was short of a bouzouki player.
I can't really remember saying yes but the next day we were rehearsing for a gig later in the evening. As it turned out it was good fun. Thanks ye all.
