I am still in India and away from art supplies so I decided continue on my iPad art experiments and try a new application on the iPad : Procreate, and I'm loving the results. Very easy to use and the colors blend soooo well. I'll be making more of these for sure.

20x20 - Pixels on iPad

So while I was preparing myself to go to India for 3 weeks I realized I would most likely experience serious painting withdrawal symptoms, you know, with not being able to paint anything for 3 weeks and what not. So I decided to treat myself at the airport and got myself an ipad. I instantly loaded it with various art apps.
While I find them all amazing and interesting, one in particular has kept me busy: Artrage.
I pretty much feels like using actual oils or acrylics and there's a blending system that, once tweaked properly allows to blend the colors exactly like I would on a canvas. Here's the results I came up with so far... can't wait to see what I can do with a bit more experience.

The resolution is 2048x 2048 which, for a digital painting makes it good enough to be printed on paper or canvas since there are no colour interferences. Check it out :

New Stick

Something not painting related today:
I finished my 3rd board. It's a 6'6 - 21 1/2 - 3 low rocker wave catching beast.
I used the template of my McCoy Nugget for the tail and rounded the nose. I've had the idea to try a canard type 6 fin board for a while so I just did it. I just liked the idea. 6 feet 6 inches 6 fin.

I've no idea what it does or how it does it really.  All I know is, it'll float and it will turn. The rest is up to me

From idea sketches to finished painting

This was an interesting one to work on.I used a few photos of San Sebastian and decided what should be featured in the background. One this was established I did a few quick rough sketches in order to get the composition right. I went from 3 surfers in the original idea to just one.

Eventually it's time to start layering the paint.

I just finished this painting. I wanted to include the entrance of the port and the basque flag somehow. It was challenging to get the composition right but I really enjoyed doing this one I must say.
